Safety & Social Initiatives

The DNBIA has been instrumental in focusing attention on safety and social issues in downtown Nanaimo. In partnership with the RCMP and various agencies in the municipal and provincial governments, the DNBIA has helped to develop a number of programs that have substantially reduced crime and public disorder making downtown Nanaimo statistically equal in safety and security to any other commercial district in Nanaimo.
